About Mary
Mary moved to Evansville 30 years ago, left for military training, and chose to come back and make Evansville her home - the place to raise her 3 girls. She and her husband, Greg, love living in downtown Evansville and enjoy spending time with their two grandkids. Mary is the owner/ operator of Sixth and Zero, a business committed to sustainability. Mary has mentored other small business owners and has helped several women launch their own startups over the years. She is the voice behind the Waste Less Live More Podcast and the co-founder of community activist group, Zero Waste Evansville. Mary is also the co-owner of Virginia Street Properties where she focuses on offering clean, well-managed properties at a fair price.
Over the last 30 years Mary has consistently invested in the community through volunteerism and in gathering people together to make a bigger impact where she sees a need. She has served on neighborhood association boards and a variety of boards that aligned with her value of making life better for all people in the community. She created a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) to support the newly established New Tech Institute, served for 10 years with an inner city community development organization where she established a neighborhood garden and actively supported several community health initiatives. She's a founding member of the Haynie's Corner Art District Association, serves as a mental health advocate, and helped in the initial launch of the E is for Everyone initiative. Mary is a 2017 graduate of Leadership Everyone and was presented with the Individual Achievement Award during the 2018 Celebration of Leadership.
